The Junior section has started!
Jo Smith our Junior organiser with the help of PGA professional Richard Stephenson have got the Saturday afternoon lessons up and running. A regular group of 15 budding golfers are showing true promise.
Junior sessions are between 2pm – 4pm Saturdays.
We are pleased to announce joining Richard Stephenson in June 2013 will be two new golf professional.
Scott Amiet will be running his own golf shop in the freshly refurbished club house.
And James Martin will be available for lessons.
This wealth of experience will be available to members and non members a like.

The Golf Course is fully open, no restrictions on trollys and buggies.
With the help of the Devon golf union and the English golf union the junior section is slowly taking shape. Due to start in April/ May 2013, a selection of young and experienced golf professionals will take small groups of future players for coaching. All abilities will be welcome. Watch this page for dates and further information in early in 2013.
The up coming year promises to be an exciting time for Bovey Tracey Golf Centre, Newton Abbot. With the redevelopment and landscaping of the entrance and 9 hole par 3 golf course in full swing, the grand opening for the Easter holidays is looking good.
As the catering continues to thrive and grow we have decide to expand and redevelop the bar, restaurant and kitchen area, with a pro shop soon to follow. With the help of experienced Exeter golf club designers, work is scheduled to start early January. The new café and bar area will be able to comfortably sit 100 people.
The very busy period continues with medals,Stableford competitions and the annual Dartmoor Trophy taking place, but the highlight has been the Bovey Ladies winning another round of the National Nines and having to travel to the Isle of Wight for the Regional Semi final.
A medal for both Ladies and Gents was played in good conditions with Jacqui Barber-Lafon(h’cap 35)continuing her recent good form, carding a net 70, to take the Ladies first place beating Helen Frankpitt(h’cap 31) who scored a net 72 to take second place. The gents Division 1 medal was taken by Matt Moore, who had recently been given his handicap of 15, carding a net 65 to beat Ben Metheringham (h’cap 20) who came in with a net66. Division 2 was won by Pete Stanyon (h’cap 21) with a net 70 beating Martin Barber-Lafon on count back.
The Ladies then played a 9 hole Stableford with Laura Stanyon (h’cap 27) and Sheelah Ayliffe (h’cap 24) both coming in with 17 points with Stanyon taking the honours on count back. Mary Hendy (h’cap 34) took 3rd place on 16 points.
The Dartmoor Trophy, one of the perpetual trophies, was played in appalling conditions, but John Haddy (h’cap 22) beat the wet conditions to card a net 67 and take the trophy. Kevin Jones (h’cap 13) claimed second place with a net 70 and Peter Waite also playing off 13, took 3rd. place with a net 70.
The Ladies played the Club round of the Ping 4BBB, the winners being Sheelah Ayliffe and Gillian Harvey with 35 points.
Lastly in this very busy period, the Seniors had a match against Woodbury Park on the Acorn course which was very enjoyable and played in a very friendly manner, perhaps the Seniors were to friendly, losing the match 4.5 to 0.5.
London Pride and Ladies May Medal
Congratulations to Jim Yeoman for winning the London Pride Medal with a nett score of 72, on Saturday 5th May.
The Ladies Medal which was played on the same day was won by Jacquie Barber-Lafon with a terrific score of a nett 69, which resulted in a one shot handicap reduction. Well done Jacquie!
John Deere Regional Championship
On Wednesday 18th April, a 3 ball consisting on Mens Captain Kevin Jones, Mick Medley and Tom Barter competed in the the John Deere Regional Championship held at Boringdon Park Golf Club. Battling through the beautiful devonshire weather consisting of wind and the rain the 3 players came a highly respectable 5th in the competition.
